I dug 8, 9 and 10, 7 was pretty good, but I have a hard time believing people like this had anything to do with the quality of those games when they say, "We didn't do this because it was too much work."
I guess it's cool that he's honest about it, but how many people just come out and talk like that?
Are these guys honestly in charge of one of the biggest game franchises ever? I bet he had a bong in his hand when they interviewed him.
These games have been dead for a long time now. I knew Final Fantasy, and you sir are no Final Fantasy. Sakaguchi took everything good about it with him when he left.
Reviewers like to crap all over new IP's. They'll cream their pants for the next Final Fantasy or GTA, though. I dunno if this game deserves its score or not, just making an observation.
When the first Uncharted came out, people threw around words like "uninspired" and "derivative," but as soon as Uncharted 2 hit, everybody wanted to be its best friend.
If WKC and Dante's Inferno get sequels, I'm sure they'll get great scores for whatever reason. ...
You're telling me I'll have to get off my couch???
THREE TIMES?!?!?!
It's suicide time for me, I guess :(
I just pissed my pants because it was too much work to walk to the bathroom. I like your style, Square Enix!
"Papa strikes again!"
Flynn is a bad mofo, too.
Hahaha, oh wow, that was an awesome showing of not giving a f--k.
I just finished Lost Odyssey and it curb-stomped everything Final Fantasy-related that's come out over the past 8 or 9 years - it even tops some of the classics. I'm seriously mad at myself for not playing it sooner. If you've got an Xbox and you're feeling shafted by Square Enix, give it a try - I bet you'll love it.
I don't even understand how an rpg can not have towns. What does it have, then? Is it...
Speaking of character design, this just blew my mind:
"Oblivion's okay, but foreign games lack subtlety. They lack detail, and the character design and stories are bad."
How do you say "Huh?" in Japanese? Take a look at the main characters from two popular story-driven games from America and Japan: Uncharted and Final Fantasy 13. Is there anything subtle about FF? Maybe if Nathan Drake had "detail" like goofy hair or 50 belts or a goddam...
So long as they don't throw in some dumbass motion controls, I'm down with this. If I have to waggle to break the backboard, forget about it.
A lot of these are pretty weak. I only agree with Vice City and Ico, really. It'd help if the author explained why he picked these games.
Here's some of my favorite recent box art.
Skate - captures the simplicity of the game.
House of the Dead Overkill - nails the grindhouse look - also "This is like something out of a video game!"
Dead Rising - you know exactly what kind of game this will be just by looking at it.
Left 4 Dead - doesn't te...
That first picture sums up everything I hate about this game, with the living-motorcycle-woman-summon ...thing.
He's right in some ways. If you've ever played an online game, you know games can bring the douchbagginess out of people. Then there's the guys who kill themselves playing World of Warcraft for days straight.
LOL at Love Death 2, the funniest game ever. I wonder why this never came out in America???
Why do people want remakes so bad? And they always say, "keep everything the same, just make the graphics better!" If you're not going to do something drastically different with your version, what's the point in remaking it? If all you're doing is adding a new coat of paint, it's never gonna hold a candle to the original.
I do want a Streets of Rage SEQUEL, though.
"Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare...Without this, Modern Warfare 2 wouldn’t exist."
That's pretty funny...because it's true!
Borderlands is so much fun.
I love these kinds of games, but Bayonetta is just too WTF for me.
It's okay, but all they did was rip off this art. Emo kids used to wear this on T-shirts all the time, so Borderlands loses cool points in my book, even though I love the game.
And what's with all the boring-ass empty white space on these boxes? Final Fantasy Dissidia, Dragon Age Origins, Kingdom Hearts, Madworld...Madworld is black and white of course, but they could have had SOMETHING going on in the background.
This is retarded. Great idea trying to get your camera to "wear" 3-D glasses.
I'd have taken Guitar Hero 5 off the list and put Silent Hill Shattered Memories in its place.
Little girls aren't really scary, but other than that just look at it. She's sitting on a swingset, in the middle of the street, and it's hanging from nothing.
The "episode" thing bothers me. Looks like they're setting everybody up for milkage.
But I'm a sucker, so they've got my money - this looks sweet
